Telehealth and virtual care guidance updated
National Boards have revised their guidance to reflect the evolving telehealth landscape, including the rise of telehealth-only business models. The update reinforces professional expectations and highlights safe prescribing, ethical concerns, and practitioner responsibilities. Case studies are included to support practitioners across professions.

Revised National Prescribing Competencies Framework (3rd edition)
Following public consultation, the updated framework supports quality use of medicines across professions. While core competencies remain, updates reflect current trends in education and practice.

Title change: ‘Podiatric Surgeon’ to ‘Surgical Podiatrist’
To clarify the role and strengthen public trust, the protected title will change from ‘Podiatric Surgeon’ to ‘Surgical Podiatrist’ from 5 October 2026. This follows an independent review and aims to align with community expectations.

New guidance for working with assistants in podiatry
The Podiatry Board has released guidance to support safe, person-centred care when working with assistants. It draws on the Code of Conduct and includes practical case studies.
