Check vaccine stock for expiring 2024 influenza doses

It’s time to review your remaining 2024 influenza vaccine inventory expiration dates.

As we near the end of the vaccine's recommended usage period, it is important to identify and remove any doses that are approaching expiration.

Please see below indicating expiration dates of NSW Health distributed influenza vaccines;

Product name and expiration dates:

Fluarix Tetra (all age cohorts) - 28/02/2025

Fluad Quad (all age cohorts)-  06/01/2025 + 12/01/2025

FluQuadri (all age cohorts) -  8/12/2024

Vaxigrip tetra (all age cohorts) -  31/12/2024

Action Items:

1. Check vaccine fridges:

  • Inspect all refrigerators where influenza vaccines are stored.

  • Ensure vaccines are organised by expiration date, with soon-to-expire doses easily identifiable.

2. Remove expired doses:

  • Remove any expired doses immediately to prevent inadvertent use.

3. Document and report:

  • Record the vaccine discarded ion the NSW Vaccine Centre Online portal.

Your proactive efforts help ensure vaccine efficacy and patient safety while reducing waste. If you have any questions, please contact your local Public Health Unit.
