Reporting Q fever vaccination information

Since 15 April 2024, providers are no longer able to report Q fever vaccination information to the Australian Q Fever Register. Instead, this information must now be reported directly to the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR).¹

To ensure comprehensive records for this one-off vaccine are maintained, every time Q-VAX® (Q fever vaccine) is administered, vaccination providers must report the vaccination event, along with any natural immunity information, to the AIR.⁴ ⁵

IMPORTANT:

Individuals who had a record on the Australian Q Fever Register prior to 15 April 2024 will only be able to access their information, including their Q Fever eStatement, until 30 June 2025. After this date, their information will no longer be accessible.¹

Individuals can access their Q Fever eStatement by either:¹

  • Logging onto the Q Fever Register website and downloading a copy; or

  • Requesting a copy by contacting the Q Fever Register on 1300 733 837.
(Please note: Individuals must verify their identity before any information is released.)

What can you do?

Remind your patients to access and save their Q fever vaccination evidence (Q Fever eStatement) before 30 June 2025. They should then take this documentation to a recognised vaccination provider in Australia so their details can be reported to the AIR.¹ ²

As Q-VAX® is a one-off immunisation that must not be administered more than once, and must not be given to anyone with previous Q fever infection, maintaining accurate records in the AIR is essential. It ensures critical information is readily available to you and your fellow healthcare providers.⁴ ⁵
