Continue testing for hepatitis C in overseas-born people

NSW GPs prescribe 50% of hepatitis C treatments each year – a highly valued contribution to eliminating hepatitis C in Australia and NSW by 2030.

While people with a history of injecting drug use remain a priority, testing and treating people born in countries with high hepatitis C prevalence is also important.

Many overseas born people remain untested.

Unsafe medical and non-medical procedures and blood screening practises contribute to hepatitis C risk in other countries.
