Better and faster access to test results through My Health Record
The Australian Government has introduced new legislation to improve how quickly pathology and diagnostic imaging results are uploaded to My Health Record, helping Australians and their healthcare providers access up-to-date health information sooner.
Under these changes, most pathology test results, such as blood and urine tests, will be available to view in My Health Record or through the 1800MEDICARE app as soon as they are uploaded. Some results, including anatomical pathology, cytopathology and genetic testing, will become available after a five-day delay, reduced from the previous seven-day delay.
Test results will be uploaded to My Health Record by default unless an individual requests that their information not be shared.
These changes are designed to support safer and more effective care by improving timely access to health information for patients and healthcare providers.
