Accreditation practice pointer: waiting areas

GP5.1D Our practice has a waiting area that accommodates its usual number of patients and other people who would be waiting at any given time.

RACGP Standards for general practice.

The layout of a general practice supports quality patient care. Thus, the design of the reception area is important. There must be sufficient seating for the number of patients waiting for their appointment.

Furthermore, it is particularly beneficial if the reception area can be viewed by the reception team members, so that patients can be monitored while they are waiting.
