Accreditation practice pointer: RACGP updates general practice definition
RACGP has revised the definition of a general practice for the purpose of accreditation.
The updated definition now includes non-traditional general practice models. For example, there are now GP mobile services dedicated exclusively to residential aged care facilities or outreach disability services. Essentially, these services provide the care of a general practice, without the building.
For more information, please refer to RACGP’s Interpretive guide for the accreditation of general practices under the new definition of a general practice for the purpose of accreditation.
GPs seeking clarity can also email standards@racgp.org.au or contact an accreditation agency, approved in the National General Practice Accreditation Scheme.
