Accreditation practice pointer: our clinical team discusses the practice’s clinical issues and support systems

C3.4 C Our clinical team discusses the practice’s clinical issues and support systems.

RACGP Standards for general practice

General practices can encourage optimum care by providing clinicians with a platform to address clinical issues. Good internal communication can be fostered with face-to-face meetings, which focus on clinical issues. These meetings need to be documented.

Practices might support clinical teamwork by establishing a buddy system between clinicians. The practice’s intranet or email can also be used for clinical discussions.

It is crucial that clinicians understand these internal communication processes.

The clinical team must also have access to current resources on a range of clinical issues to deliver optimum primary healthcare and for their own professional development.
