Updated guidance on ‘Not applicable’ accreditation indicators

There are indicators in the RACGP Standards for general practices (5th edition) that are not applicable to every general practice completing accreditation. For example, indicator C3.6A – Our practice has all research approved by an ethics committee is only applicable to practices that conduct research.

The Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Health Care (ACSQHC) has issued updated guidance on the National General Practice Accreditation (NGPA) Scheme on such indicators. Read the ACSQHC advisory on not applicable indicators under the NGPA Scheme.

The ‘Not applicable’ indicators must be evaluated during each accreditation assessment, irrespective of any ‘Not applicable’ ratings awarded during previous accreditation cycles.

This guidance is relevant to both accreditation assessors and general practices.
