RACGP Standards for general practice

General practice must have a strong cold chain management policy in place to ensure the effectiveness of all vaccines delivered within the practice. There must be one team member responsible for cold chain management and compliance within the practice. The nominated team member must receive necessary training to ensure they can complete their role. Clear lines of accountability can be maintained when the other practice team member know who is responsible for cold chain management. There must also be another team member who can assume cold chain management when the nominated team member is unavailable. 

Practices might also include education about cold chain management in induction and regular training for the practice team.
