Review of primary care after hours programs and policy
The Department of Health and Aged Care has initiated the Review of Primary Care After Hours Programs and Policy in response to the recommendations of the Strengthening Medicare Taskforce Report (2022), as well as other recent initiatives such as the development of Future Focused Primary Health Care: Australia’s Primary Health Care 10 Year Plan 2022-2032, and widespread changes to after hours services arising from the COVID-19 pandemic.
Following a period of data and evidence analysis, the review is now in its consultation phase, and the Department has released a survey and discussion paper.
The survey is aimed at primary care providers, including practice owners and managers; general practitioners; non-vocational doctors; nurses and nurse practitioners; primary health networks; and others working in primary care. Consumers are also welcome to complete the survey.
We are keen to ensure your views are represented in this review and would appreciate you taking the time to complete the survey and/or a written submission if possible.
Please send any queries about the survey and submissions to afterhours@allenandclarke.com.au.
The closing date for the survey and submissions is 20 April 2024.
