Introducing MyStep to Mental Wellbeing
After a comprehensive review into how MPHN funds mental health services across the region, and subsequent tender process to establish the new MyStep to Mental Wellbeing, MPHN is pleased to announce Grand Pacific Health and Murrumbidgee Local Health District (MLHD) as the providers to deliver this activity.
MPHN CEO Melissa Neal said plans are in place to ensure existing clients are transitioned smoothly to ensure continuity of care.
“As part of our agreement with both Grand Pacific Health and Murrumbidgee Local Health District the initial priority is for the smooth transition of existing clients, ,” Ms Neal said.
“Grand Pacific Health will provide services for the MyStep Eastern Hub, while the MLHD will provide services for the MyStep Western Hub. Both will provide a coordinated and comprehensive range of mental health services across low, moderate and high intensity, aged care facilities, as well as mental health nursing for people with severe and complex needs.
“This approach will ensure people are able to access a range of services across the stepped care model reducing the need for multiple assessments and multiple referrals.
“What we learned from the mental health review was people wanting access to mental health services to have a smooth referral process, less points where they are required to share their story and for supports to adapt as their needs change” she said.
Over the coming weeks current clients of Strong Minds, Team Care, Connect and Connect for Kids programs will continue to receive services and transition to the new providers in line with clinical requirements.
Services under this model will be fully implemented from 1 January 2020.
