People experiencing mental health and/or drug and alcohol concerns can now find local support services at the click of a button, with the recent launch of MapMyRecovery.

Developed by the Murrumbidgee Mental Health Drug and Alcohol Alliance, MapMyRecovery features an online interactive map of the region, making it easy to locate appropriate services.

It also features other useful information such as diagnosis, networks and advocacy, emergency or crisis support; and is compatible with desktop computers and smartphones.

Wagga Wagga local and mental health advocate Tania Le Petit said the new resource was a welcome aid for the community.

“From personal experience, I know how challenging navigating mental health services can be, especially when you’re experiencing mental ill-health,” Ms Le Petit said.

“MapMyRecovery has many of our local region’s service providers in one easy to use website, and is a great way for people to take control of their own mental health.”

Murrumbidgee Primary Health Network (MPHN) CEO Melissa Neal said she hoped MapMyRecovery would streamline access to health services in the region.

“It’s not uncommon for us to hear people say they are unaware of where they can access local mental health resources,” she said.

“MapMyRecovery allows people to find the right health service for their needs instantly, and it’s also useful in assisting those trying to help someone in need – their friends, family, carers and service providers to connect with suitable local supports.

“One of our key goals is to ensure efficient and effective delivery of high quality, person-centred care and supports, and MapMyRecovery is a great example of how we are helping connect people with local services.”
