Vicarious trauma – free training for rural workforce
MPHN is one of nine PHNs to be funded under the Empowering our Communities initiative, offering mental health support to help farmers and rural communities to deal with the uncertainty, stress and anxiety of drought conditions. MPHN acknowledges the rural workforce supporting people experiencing drought-related distress and trauma, are not traditionally trained in mental health and require additional support and training to ensure their own safety and wellbeing.
MPHN would like to invite the broader rural workforce to attend FREE training sessions facilitated by the Blue Knot Foundation. The training will be a half day of interactive professional development that explores the nature, dynamics and risks of vicarious trauma. The training is currently scheduled to run in five locations throughout the MPHN region, however we are also happy to receive suggestions for other locations within the Murrumbidgee region to deliver additional sessions at a later date.
