Hot Topics, the UK’s most popular GP update course, has been specifically adapted for Australia, and MPHN and its Board is bringing the renowned session to Wagga Wagga on 12 October 2019 at the International Hotel.

General Practitioner and MPHN Board Chair, Dr Jodi Culbert said having Hot Topics available locally will GPs reduce travel and time away from their families and patients.

“Often GPs can find it a challenge to get to capital cities for conference and education opportunities, as it usually means some time away from seeing patients, and precious time with our own families,” Dr Culbert said.

“We are all trying to do the best for our patients and keeping up to date with all the latest information, and Hot Topics provides all this at our fingertips and right on our doorstep.

“Possibly the most unique opportunity for our region’s general practitioners is that we can get together with our colleagues in our own backyard and discuss the course content with a regional setting lens rather than city centric focus during discussions.

“This relevant application of the course content is invaluable and I would encourage my Murrumbidgee colleagues to register for Hot Topics and save your city trips for your weekend escapes,” she said.

GPs, GP Registrars, medical students and practice nurses are welcome to attend the renowned Hot Topics education event on 12 October between 8:30am and 4:30pm at the International Hotel in Wagga Wagga. Tickets start from $165 and registrations close on Wednesday 2 October 2019. Afterwards, Hot Topics participants are invited to attend the 2019 Primary Healthcare Awards presentation and dinner.

Members of firsthealth Limited, trading as Murrumbidgee Primary Health Network, are invited to attend the Annual General Meeting (AGM) at 6:30pm. During the AGM two Board Directors will be appointed. Nominations for these positions close on Thursday, 5 September 2019.

Nominations for MPHN’s 2019 Primary Healthcare awards close on Sunday 8 September 2019, with award recipients announced during the dinner event.
