Glenrock Country Practice GP and Chair of the WGPAHS Cooperative, Associate Professor Ayman Shenouda, said access to the WGPAHS and other available services can help reduce pressure on the emergency departments of the region’s hospitals.
“Over the Easter period the Wagga GP After Hours Service will be operating mornings and evenings, and in line with government recommendations and best practice around physical distancing, the clinic is now providing telehealth consultations to protect patients and staff,” Dr Shenouda said.
“This Easter, while we are isolating to help stop the spread of COVID-19, it’s important to seek medical help if you need it. A good place to start might be online with services like Health Direct where you can speak with a nurse, or check your symptoms in their online tool.
“There are also a variety of online and 24 hour telephone supports for mental health and wellbeing such as the Head to Health website.
“Of course, if you need urgent medical attention, please go to your local emergency department or call 000 in an emergency,” he said.
