Virtual series to educate and inspire communities on mental health
Murrumbidgee Primary Health Network (MPHN) will be hosting the first of a series of six virtual events focusing on wellbeing, mental health, and suicide prevention on Wednesday 4 May 2022.
The Wellbeing: Connect and Share series will each feature a key speaker and panel discussion giving participants an opportunity to interact and contribute ideas.
MPHN CEO Melissa Neal said the webinars are designed to educate, inspire and share learnings as well as provide an opportunity for networking and connection for community groups and individuals across the Murrumbidgee region.
“An important part of MPHN’s role is to support and empower communities to develop resilience and connect with each other to address health and wellbeing issues that affect them,” Ms Neal said.
“These events will bring together people across the region who are investing time and effort into the wellbeing of their communities and allow for discussion and development of strategies in mental health and suicide prevention.”
MPHN’s Mental Health Alcohol and Other Drugs Manager Maja Asmus said the first event will focus on suicide prevention with a key address from Gotcha 4 Life founder Gus Worland.
“The virtual series aims to educate attendees on available supports and direct them to evidence-based training opportunities,” Ms Asmus said.
“We are excited to bring some key voices in mental health to the people of the Murrumbidgee region. Ultimately our goal is to support community-based groups and assist them to connect, learn and build capacity.”
