MPHN welcomes new Chair and Directors at 2025 AGM

Associate Professor Alam Yoosuff was elected as the new Chair of MPHN at the 2025 AGM.

Murrumbidgee Primary Health Network (MPHN) held its Annual General Meeting on Friday 31 October 2025, celebrating a year of achievement and welcoming new leadership to its Board.

Associate Professor Alam Yoosuff was elected as the new Chair of MPHN. A rural GP based in Finley, NSW, Associate Professor Yoosuff brings extensive experience in public health, palliative care and emergency medicine. He is the principal GP at Finley Regional Care and GP/Visiting Medical Officer (VMO) at Finley Hospital and has been a Director on the MPHN Board for 7 years.

“I am deeply honoured to take on the role of Chair,” Associate Professor Yoosuff said.

“This recognition is not mine alone; it belongs to everyone who has shared the path with me. Together, we continue that legacy; strengthening what we’ve built, nurturing what is to come, and ensuring that every step we take leaves the path a little better for those who follow.”

Associate Professor Yoosuff acknowledged outgoing Chair Dr Jodi Culbert, who stepped down after nine years on the Board, including six as Chair.

“Jodi’s leadership has been instrumental in shaping MPHN into the high-performing, community-centred organisation it is today,” Associate Professor Alam Yoosuff said.

MPHN CEO Stewart Gordon and Chair Associate Professor Alam Yoosuff thanked outgoing Chair Dr Jodi Culbert for her service at the 2025 Murrumbidgee Primary Healthcare Awards.

“Her legacy includes stronger partnerships, bold innovation, and a deep commitment to equity and inclusion. MPHN is a shining spot among other PHNs; her leadership and guidance created this.”

The AGM also welcomed new and continuing Board Directors. Incumbent Director Sophie Ryan will continue for another term. A new Director, Dr Ryan Bulger, was elected to the Board. Dr Bulger is a Gundagai-based GP, VMO and lecturer at UNSW Rural Medical School.

Dr Culbert’s leadership was also acknowledged by CEO Stewart Gordon, who will step down in December to return to Queensland and be closer to his family.

“Jodi’s leadership has been visionary, grounded, and unwavering in its commitment to balancing the needs of community, clinicians and policy directions alike,” Mr Gordon said.

“Her legacy includes stronger partnerships, bold innovation, and a deep commitment to equity and inclusion.”

The AGM was held ahead of the 2025 Murrumbidgee Primary Healthcare Awards, which celebrated excellence and innovation across the region.
