Yellow Fever Vaccination
Yellow fever is a serious viral disease spread by infected mosquitoes, primarily in parts of Africa and South America. Vaccination is the most effective way to prevent infection and is a requirement for entry into certain countries.
The yellow fever vaccine is a live, attenuated vaccine that provides long-lasting protection and is recommended for people aged 9 months and over who are travelling to or living in areas with a risk of yellow fever transmission. In Australia, the vaccine is only available through approved Yellow Fever Vaccination Centres. Travellers should be vaccinated at least 10 days before travel to allow immunity to develop and to meet international entry requirements.
