Call for applications to join the Aged Care Council of Elders

The Australian Government is looking for older people with lived experience of the aged care system to join the Aged Care Council of Elders from January 2026.

The council is a diverse group of older people that delivers advice to government on how best to support older Australians in aged care.

A toolkit is available to help you share information about this opportunity. It includes:

• newsletter articles

• social media tiles

• key messages about the council and application process.

Suitable applicants will demonstrate how they are active in their communities, engaging with people about key issues and bringing that feedback to government.

Appointments are for a term of up to 2 years. Applications close 26 September 2025.
