Medicare Mental Health Centres
To improve mental health services in the Murrumbidgee, MPHN has commissioned two new Medicare Mental Health Centres (formerly Head to Health).
The Medicare Mental Health Centres have been co-designed with services and the community to target local needs and improve mental health and wellbeing.
Medicare Mental Health Centres in Wagga Wagga and Young provide free mental health services for adults, offering a safe and welcoming environment. Services are free and are delivered by multidisciplinary care teams without the need for a prior appointment or GP referral. You do not need a Medicare card to access these services.
These services are being delivered by Grand Pacific Health in partnership with Directions Health, Riverina Medical and Dental Aboriginal Corporation and Mission Australia. Each centre has clinicians, peer workers, care navigators and will also include family support workers and Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) specialists to assist as required
Access Medicare Mental Health Centres by calling the local centres on 02 6953 4440 and asking for support, or by visiting your nearest centre – whatever you feel most comfortable with.
Wagga Wagga Medicare Mental Health Centre – Unit 2 36-40 Gurwood Street, Wagga Wagga, 2650, NSW (service currently delivered from Mission Australia's location).
Young Medicare Mental Health Centre – location coming soon.
Medicare Mental Health Centres are co-funded by the Australian Government and New South Wales Government as part of the mental health bilateral agreement.

Yes, from July 2025, a centralised tele-psychology and tele-psychiatry service will be available to support existing centres. This service will offer booked appointments via phone or video consultations.
