Menopause & Perimenopause
Health professionals play an important role in supporting informed, evidence-based conversations about perimenopause and menopause. A range of professional development opportunities, clinical tools and resources are available to support GPs, Aboriginal Health Workers, specialists, allied health professionals, nurses and midwives.
These resources can help health professionals recognise menopause and perimenopause presentations, support evidence-based management in general practice, and have informed discussions with patients about symptoms, care options and treatment pathways.

Quality Use of Medicines resources
The Quality Use of Medicines Alliance QHUB provides access to resources, webinars and educational activities to support professional knowledge and understanding of evidence-based management of menopause symptoms.
QHUB resources include a Clinical Guide for health professionals and a Decision Aid to support shared decision-making between clinicians and patients.
Health professionals can access educational opportunities and resources through the QHUB website.
MBS health assessment items
Two MBS items for menopause and perimenopause health assessments, MBS item 695 and MBS item 19000, commenced on 1 July 2025 to support targeted conversations with eligible patients. These items support providers to deliver menopause and perimenopause health assessment services lasting at least 20 minutes.
