Taking health information to Henty

  • Collaboration with the Public Health Unit

At the Henty Machinery Field Days, Murrumbidgee Primary Health Network (MPHN) took an extended range of health information directly to people from across the region.

Sharing a stall with the Public Health Unit allowed us to bring complementary services and expertise together in one location. Over the three-day event, the team shared health information and resources on a broad range of topics with a diverse cross-section of the community through show bags, two presentations on suicide prevention and immunisation, and one-on-one conversations with visitors from across the Murrumbidgee region and beyond.

MPHN's Community Engagement Coordinator, Thomas Parker, said the event provided an important opportunity to engage with people who may not otherwise seek out health information.

"Henty Field Days attracts people from right across our region, giving us the chance to have conversations about health, raise awareness of services and help people find support they may not have known was available to them in our region.

“These conversations can also encourage people to check in on friends and family, reach out to their support networks, speak with their general practitioner or participate in screening earlier. This supports better health while potentially reducing pressure on the health system.”

Building on the success of this engagement, we plan to use the 2026 Henty Machinery Field Days to encourage community participation in the Health Needs Assessment survey, helping ensure local voices inform future health planning.
