Make a difference to the future allied health workforce
Several allied health practices across Griffith and Leeton recently participated in the Be a Health Hero program, facilitated by the NSW Department of Education's Regional Industry Education Partnerships (RIEP) program.
Students interested in health careers took part in hands-on sessions with local practitioners from Leeton Physiotherapy, George & Matilda Optometry, Medicine in Motion Exercise Physiology and MLHD Dietetics, as well as professionals working in Aboriginal health and mental health.
The program provided an opportunity for allied health professionals to showcase career pathways, connect with local students and help build the future workforce, without the commitment of hosting a student placement for an extended period.
Local allied health practices are invited to participate in future programs, including Be a Health Hero in Leeton and Griffith, and the Health Careers Forum in Wagga Wagga.
