Veteran allied health referral changes

The Australian Government has announced changes to its proposed $5,000 referral threshold measure for veteran allied health services.

Feedback from consultation identified concerns about the proposed approach, which would have replaced the current requirement for a new GP referral after 12 allied health visits with a $5,000 treatment threshold before care was reviewed.

The government stated its commitment to improving access to allied health care through fee increases for allied health providers.

The Department of Veterans' Affairs (DVA) will continue consulting with veterans and providers on ways to improve wellbeing outcomes, reduce unnecessary administrative burden and maintain the integrity of the system.
