Cervical screening in pregnancy: multilingual resources now available

In NSW, cervical screening rates remain lower among women from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds. For many, pregnancy care may be the first opportunity they have to be offered a Cervical Screening Test, making it a vital time to raise awareness and support informed decision-making.

To help, the Cancer Institute NSW, in consultation with multicultural stakeholders and communities, has developed a suite of translated resources that explain the importance, ease, and safety of cervical screening during pregnancy.

These resources include:

  • In-language webpages

  • Downloadable factsheets (PDFs)

  • Audio recordings

They are available in more than 20 languages, including Arabic, Bengali, Burmese, Cantonese, Dari, Farsi, Gujarati, Indonesian, Japanese, Korean, Mandarin, Nepali, Portuguese, Punjabi, Spanish, Tagalog, Thai, Turkish, Urdu, Vietnamese, and more, via the language dropdown menu on the Cancer Institute NSW website. Webpages are also accessible directly through a QR code on waiting room posters.
