Protecting children through vaccination

General practices are encouraged to continue supporting parents, carers and expectant parents with information about the importance of staying up to date with recommended vaccinations.

Free vaccines available under the National Immunisation Program (NIP) provide safe and effective protection against serious vaccine-preventable diseases, including respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), measles and whooping cough.

The Australian Government Department of Health, Disability and Ageing has developed a range of resources to help practices share information about childhood and maternal vaccinations with their communities. Resources include newsletter content, social media posts and downloadable materials designed to support informed vaccination decisions.
