Revised Open Disclosure Framework now available

The Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Health Care has released a revised Australian Open Disclosure Framework to support healthcare professionals in communicating openly and effectively with patients when things go wrong in health care.

First published in 2014, the Framework has been updated to reflect contemporary clinical practice and strengthen its focus on person-centred care.

fact sheet for healthcare professionals provides practical guidance on when and how to conduct open disclosure. The Commission has also released two videos featuring Medical Advisor Dr Holdenson Kimura and consumer advocate Natalie, highlighting the importance of open and honest conversations and the principles of person-centred open disclosure..
