Maintaining a healthy business model allows general practice to deliver optimum primary healthcare.  

Practice owners must plan strategically, setting goals and measuring progress accordingly. A governance framework relevant to the size and complexity of the practice also needs to be established. A sound action plan is also beneficial. 

Ultimately, a good business plan leads to continuous quality improvement activity, which in turn supports the effective primary healthcare.
