Accreditation practice pointer: accessing current guidelines

C5.1 A Our clinical team is able to access relevant current clinical and other guidelines that help diagnose and manage our patients.

RACGP Standards for general practice.

Practitioners need up-to-date clinical guidelines to ensure they are providing patients with optimum primary health care. Ultimately, clinical guidelines allow for consistent and continuous advice from clinicians and to patients.

Thus, general practice must have readily accessible current, best evidence, and accurate clinical guidelines available in electronic and/or hard copy available to all clinicians. Practices might also support the criterion by having regular team meetings or group emails about clinical topics and document the topics of discussion and the decisions made.
