MPHN is pleased to announce Wellways Australia have been appointed the providers for the Continuity of Support (CoS) program, providing psychosocial support services for those living with severe mental illness.

MPHN Acting CEO, Julie Redway said the CoS program has been designed to support existing clients from three Commonwealth funded programs; Partners in Recover (PIR), Support for Day to Day Living in the Community (D2DL) and Personal Helpers and Mentors (PHaMs); who are not eligible to receive services under the National Disability and Insurance Scheme (NDIS).

“We know people living with a severe mental illness at times require increased and targeted support, which this program can provide,” Ms Redway said.

“The intensity of support provided to clients is flexible and will be negotiated with each client based on their needs.

“The focus of this support will be around helping clients build capacity and connections and will be linked to clinical services to support a team approach to meeting the needs of people with severe mental illness.

“Psychosocial services cover a range of non-clinical supports focusing on building capacity and stability around social skills, budgeting, vocational skills, home upkeep, physical activity, and other life skills to help foster confidence and resilience.

“For those clients who require the same level of supports under their existing services, they may seek support to retest their eligibility under the NDIS, which can be supported through this program,” she said

Existing clients will commence moving to CoS before the end of the current financial year. This program is supported with $1.2 million of National Psychosocial Support (NPS) funding until June 2021.
