Murrumbidgee Primary Health Network (MPHN) CEO Stewart Gordon will step down from his role in December 2025 to return to Queensland and be closer to family.
Mr Gordon has led MPHN for the past 18 months, bringing a strong focus on innovation, collaboration and equity across the region. Under his leadership, MPHN has delivered more than $30 million in government funding across 300 contracts, supported the launch of two Medicare Mental Health Centres, and introduced new initiatives including The Doctor’s Table, Allied Health Forum, Murrumbidgee First Nations GP Toolkit, and the Wagga Wagga Urgent Care Service.
“It’s been an honour to work with such a dedicated team,” Mr Gordon said. “I’ve learned so much from our communities, partners and staff, and I’m proud of what we’ve achieved together.
“I leave confident that MPHN is well positioned to continue making a meaningful impact and delivering great outcomes for this region.”
Mr Gordon is widely respected for his passion for rural health and his commitment to locally led solutions. His leadership has helped strengthen MPHN’s role in supporting the region’s primary healthcare workforce and improving health outcomes for communities across the Murrumbidgee.
firsthealth Board Chair Dr Jodi Culbert thanked Mr Gordon for his contribution.
“We’re sorry to see Stewart go and thank him for his leadership over the past 18 months,” Dr Culbert said.
“His commitment to innovation and collaboration has strengthened MPHN’s role in the region and laid a strong foundation for future work.”
The firsthealth Board will provide further updates on the recruitment of a new CEO in due course.
Mr Gordon will remain in the role until December to support the transition process.
