The Matilda Centre for Research in Mental Health and Substance Use at the University of Sydney has been funded by the Australian Government Department of Health, Disability and Ageing to develop a series of on-demand webinars on evidence-based practice. Our webinars are freely available and focus on building capacity in relation to evidence-based practice approaches to the management and treatment of co-occurring alcohol and other drug (AOD) and mental health conditions.

Speakers include: Dr Robert Fullerton

Dr Robert Fullerton is a senior clinical psychologist at Sentient Professional Wellbeing and clinical psychologist at Bondi Doctors. He holds a Dual PhD in Clinical and Industrial-Organisational Psychology from the Alliant International University and has 16 years of experience applying Motivational Interviewing in government-funded, university counselling, and private practice treatment settings 

By the end of this webinar, attendees will gain:

  • An understanding of Transtheoretical Model of Change

  • An awareness of what Motivational Interviewing is and when it is useful

  • Knowledge of the spirit and principles of Motivational Interviewing

  • An understanding of the core communication skills of Motivational Interviewing that lead to behaviour change
