Griffith: Huntington’s Disease Education Session (MLHD)

Presented by Westmead Huntington Disease Outreach Service 

Huntington’s disease (HD) is an inherited degenerative neurological condition affecting the brain and central nervous system. It progressively impairs mental and physical abilities, eventually leading to the loss of critical functions such as walking, talking, eating and reasoning. Complications arising from HD ultimately resulting in death. 

The Westmead team works closely with individuals living with Huntington Disease, as well as their families and carers, to provide comprehensive support tailored to their needs including those within MLHD.

Join Professor Clement Loy, Clinical Nurse Consultant Sandra Barisic and Clinical Nurse Specialist Peter Kwong, and as they visit the MLHD to deliver an informative session on Huntington’s Disease and the support available through their service, covering the below topics: 

  • Understanding of Huntington’s Disease 

  • Symptom progression and challenges faced by individuals and families 

  • Symptom management and prescribing advice 

  • How to refer to the Westmead Huntington Disease Outreach Service 

  • Ways to improve the lives of people with HD 

This is a 2-hour education session and will be held in both Wagga Wagga and Griffith – choose the location that suits you. 

Wagga Wagga: Monday July 21—6pm to 8pm
Griffith : Tuesday July 22— 6pm to 8pm 

Evening refreshments will be provided. 

Places are limited and registrations are required by Monday July 14.
