Community Wellbeing Sessions – Anglicare NSW South, NSW West & ACT

Anglicare will deliver a series of targeted Community Wellbeing Sessions designed to strengthen social connection, reduce isolation and improve mental health outcomes for vulnerable individuals and families.

The program offers a range of regular, low-barrier activities that create safe and welcoming spaces for people to connect, build trust and access support in ways that feel natural and respectful.

Monthly community lunch gatherings will bring socially isolated community members together over a shared meal in a relaxed environment. Local service providers will be invited to attend, helping to build awareness of available supports and strengthen trust and relationships.

Monthly community breakfasts will be held before school hours, providing families and individuals with a positive, supportive start to the day and opportunities for informal connection that help reduce loneliness.

A fortnightly craft gathering group will offer community-led creative sessions such as painting, weaving and knitting. These sessions promote mindful activity, peer support and a sense of ownership, while supporting self-care and wellbeing in a safe, inclusive space.

Women’s wellbeing sessions, held fortnightly, will support mothers participating in the Survive and Thrive and Lifetime Learning parenting programs. Sessions will focus on healing and empowerment through activities such as yoga, pilates, mindfulness and facilitated peer support.

Fortnightly cultural wellbeing sessions for Aboriginal women will be co-designed with local Elders and tailored for Aboriginal mothers. Activities will incorporate culturally significant practices including painting, weaving and yarning, supporting cultural connection, identity and resilience.

Dads’ wellbeing sessions, delivered fortnightly and facilitated by a male mentor, will use yarning circles and breathwork to support fathers’ emotional regulation, resilience and positive parenting, while encouraging openness, connection and mutual support.
