Art Therapy Groups – Multicultural Council of Wagga Wagga
The Multicultural Council of Wagga Wagga will deliver a series of art therapy groups for women from refugee backgrounds, hosted at UNIQUE Art space in Wagga Wagga.
The program will run as three separate groups, each delivered over an eight-week term. Sessions will be held for two hours per week during school hours, with six to eight participants in each group. The small group format supports trust-building, confidence and meaningful participation in a culturally safe environment.
Sessions will use art therapy to support emotional expression, wellbeing and connection. Participants will be provided with catering and supported in a comfortable, secure setting with access to both indoor spaces and a garden area. Supervised play will be available for children, allowing women to fully engage in the group while knowing their children are safe and nearby.
The program will be facilitated by Elain Camlin, an experienced and qualified art therapist. To ensure accessibility and inclusion, community language interpreters for Yazidi, Burmese and Dari will support each session.
The project will be delivered across three cohorts commencing in October 2025, February 2026 and April 2026.
