Mental Health Activities at Murundhu 2026 – Birdyulang Animations
Murundhu 2026 will be held over two days on 25 and 26 January 2026 in Wagga Wagga, delivering a community-led cultural wellbeing event facilitated by Wiradjuri community members. The event will create culturally safe spaces for reflection, healing, pride and connection, with a strong focus on supporting the wellbeing of First Nations people.
25 January will feature a full day of community activities including music, storytelling, youth-led performances, art, workshops and yarning circles. These activities are designed to celebrate culture, strengthen connection and provide opportunities for shared learning and expression across generations.
On 26 January, an intimate gathering will be held at the Charles Sturt University Playhouse for First Nations people and allies. This session will focus on truth-telling, documentary screenings and guided wellbeing conversations, providing space for deeper reflection and meaningful dialogue.
Birdyulang Animations will support the event by ensuring Mental Health First Aid training is provided prior to Murundhu for community volunteers, Elders and youth mentors. A Quiet Tent will be available across the event, with local services including RivMed, headspace and Wagga Wagga Women’s Health on site to offer information, resources and support.
Murundhu 2026 will be delivered in partnership with local First Nations organisations, health services and Elders, ensuring strong community governance and culturally appropriate delivery. The event will be free, accessible and open to the community.
