Suicide Prevention Workshop – Wagga City Rugby Club

Wagga City Rugby Club will deliver a two-part suicide prevention workshop for up to 100 male participants, led by the Murrumbidgee Men’s Group, with a focus on reducing stigma, strengthening connection and encouraging help-seeking.

The workshops will use lived experience and practical discussion to challenge attitudes around men’s mental health and build confidence to look out for mates, within a trusted sporting environment where conversations can feel more natural.

The initiative will culminate in an enhanced Mental Health Round rugby event, aligned with the club’s 75th anniversary. The round will feature custom-designed jerseys, health promotion and information booths, and co-branded polo shirts for workshop participants, reinforcing visible commitment to mental wellbeing across the club and wider community.

Supported by the club’s Gold Standard Good Sports accreditation, the program aims to embed mental health awareness into everyday club culture and position Wagga City Rugby Club as a regional leader in promoting mental wellbeing through sport.
