Tumba Talks – The Lions Club of Tumbarumba

Tumba Talks is a community-led series of six wellbeing conversations delivered by the Lions Club of Tumbarumba Inc. as part of the Community Wellbeing and Suicide Prevention Grant.

Held every two months from October 2025 to June 2026, the series commenced on World Mental Health Day (10 October 2025) and brings locals together to talk openly about health, wellbeing and community resilience.

Each Tumba Talks gathering features experienced speakers including health professionals, allied health practitioners, advocacy organisations and local community voices. Topics respond directly to issues impacting the Tumbarumba community and include dementia awareness, men’s and women’s health and wellbeing, mental health, youth wellbeing, suicide prevention, and perspectives from First Nations and LGBTQIA+ communities.

Speakers include representatives from organisations such as Dementia Australia Advocacy, with local contributors including Jade Drew. Future sessions will focus on young people’s health, with input from organisations such as Dolly’s Dream.

Each event includes information tables and promotional materials, ensuring participants leave with practical resources, knowledge of local services, and clear pathways to support.

Complimentary morning tea is provided at each session, hosted by local venues committed to strengthening community connection. To reduce barriers to participation, free transport to and from the venue is available for anyone who needs it.
