Tom’s LHAC chat
It’s been a busy month with work continuing on the fresh approach to support LHACs and MPHN LHAC representatives.
I am currently in the design phase of the project developing new processes from MPHN staff to follow and drafting the reallocation of MPHN LHAC representatives. Many representatives will remain the same however, there will be many MPHN staff members taking on representative roles for the first time so please make them feel welcome when announced in the coming months.
I was lucky enough to be invited to the 2024 MLHD Excellence Awards. It was a great night with many deserving nominees across a wide range of categories. Congratulations to all of the winners with a special mention to MLHD Board Chair’s Choice – Lourene Liebenberg, 2024 MLHD Volunteer of the Year – Margaret King, and MLHD Staff Member of the Year – Setchen Brimson. It is a testament to the outstanding people we have in the Murrumbidgee who continue to do great work in our communities.
I recently attended the 2024 Volunteering NSW State Conference organised by the Centre for Volunteering. This event was held in Sydney and live streamed into several regional centres across NSW including Wagga Wagga. The conference highlighted many challenges in the volunteering sector and opportunities for growth. Information and resources from the conference can be found here: volunteering.com.au/workshops-events/nsw-state-conference
MPHN Human Resources Manager Ericka Burgun and I attended the reopening of the Riverina Veteran Wellbeing Centre which has recently received a refurbishment. The centre supports veterans and their families in numerous ways including wellbeing support, DVA claims and advocacy, employment assistance, homelessness and housing support. Thanks for the chat, Tom.
