Tom’s LHAC chat

Thank you to everyone for your attendance at the LHAC planning sessions. I hope you have been enjoying the more hands-on approach to these sessions. There are still a few sessions left, so if your LHAC hasn’t had their planning session yet please watch the videos highlighted in the next segment of this update. I have really enjoyed attending and I am excited to see how each LHAC progresses towards their goals.

The first Yarns on the Couch for 2025 was successfully held in Wagga Wagga mid-March and I look forward to supporting Maxine with the upcoming Yarns events in Hay and Gundagai.

MPHN’s community engagement plan is currently in development to support consumer feedback for our Health Needs Assessment. The plan includes 16 Conversations on the Couch events to be held across the region between May and August. I will be reaching out to all of the LHACs involved and asking for suggestions of local cafes and engagement opportunities within your community. An exciting addition to this year’s engagement plan is theme-based surveys which will support our Health Needs Assessment.

For those who are new to LHACs and aren't sure what our Yarns and Conversations on the Couch activities are all about, they are drop-in sessions to allows community members to voice their concerns about local health and health service issues or challenges. The aim is to gain community views on what locals think can improve health. You can learn more about Conversations on the Couch here: mphn.org.au/convos-on-the-couch and Yarns on the Couch here: mphn.org.au/aboriginal-health-community

Thanks for the chat,

Tom
