Provider highlight: Murrumbidgee Local Response Group
The Murrumbidgee Local Response Group (LRG) is a coordinated, multi-agency network that brings together key services to support communities following a suspected suicide. The group aims to strengthen local responses by improving communication, coordinating support for those impacted, identifying emerging concerns, and reducing the potential for further distress within the community.
The LRG includes representatives from a range of agencies, including health services, mental health providers, education, community organisations, emergency services, and specialist suicide prevention and postvention services. By working together, the LRG helps ensure individuals, families, workplaces, schools and communities have access to timely and appropriate support following a death by suicide.
The LRG operates across the Murrumbidgee region. For more information, visit the Murrumbidgee Local Response Group webpage.
LHAC members are welcome to contact MPHN Suicide Prevention Lead Emma Bromham directly to learn more about the LRG. Emma is also available to attend LHAC meetings to provide an overview of the group, including its purpose, how it operates, the agencies involved, and its role in supporting a coordinated local response following a suspected suicide.
Raising awareness of the LRG can help communities better understand available supports and strengthen connections that contribute to a timely and collaborative response when needed.
