MPHN is a key partner in the Murrumbidgee Health and Knowledge Precinct which collaborates with stakeholders from health, education, research, industry, government and community sectors
The Precinct is designed to foster innovation, strengthen partnerships and support improved health outcomes across the region
A shared Regional Planning Framework is helping partners work towards a more integrated ‘One Health System’ approach
Some of the Murrumbidgee’s biggest health challenges cannot be solved by any one organisation or approach.
Through its involvement in the Murrumbidgee Health and Knowledge Precinct, Murrumbidgee Primary Health Network (MPHN) is working with partners across health, education, research, local industry, government and community to build a more connected, innovative and sustainable health system for the region.
The Precinct focuses collective effort on three priority areas: workforce development, research and innovation, and system integration. MPHN brings an important primary care perspective to that work, drawing on its relationships with general practice, allied health, Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations, pharmacists, aged care providers and communities.
A significant step forward in 2025-2026 was the Murrumbidgee Regional Planning Framework, which provides partners with a common approach to identifying priorities, mapping existing systems and designing and implementing solutions together. Already being applied to initiatives including the Murrumbidgee Paediatric Collective, it is helping shift regional planning from organisations working independently towards a more integrated ‘One Health System’ mindset.
For MPHN CEO Narelle Mills, the strength of the Precinct lies in that collective approach.
“The greatest value of the Precinct is not any single initiative. It is our ability to bring together diverse organisations around a shared purpose, enabling us to think and act as a region. In a rural setting, that collective approach gives us the best opportunity to create lasting improvements in health outcomes, workforce sustainability and community wellbeing.”
