Cancer screening packs

The Department of Health and Aged Care has sent cancer screening packs to more than 7000 practices.

Primary healthcare is often the first point of healthcare for many Australians, and so general practice is well placed to promote cancer screening. Compared with Australians diagnosed through another way, those diagnosed through our cervical, bowel and breast screening programs are:

  • 59% less likely to die from bowel cancer

  • 69% less likely to die from breast cancer

  • 87% less likely to die from cervical cancer.

The packs include:

  • an A3 poster for each program

  • demonstration samples of the bowel cancer screening home test kit

  • demonstration samples of the cervical screening self-collection swab

  • information to support GPs to encourage patients to take part in cancer screening

If you did not receive a pack, or would like to order another, email your general practice details to cancerscreeningcommunications@health.gov.au
