Upcoming amendments to the Australian Immunisation Register Rule 2015
Effective 1 March 2025, all vaccination providers must report pregnancy status at the time of vaccine administration to the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR).
Key points:
Mandatory reporting already applies to COVID-19, influenza, NIP, and Japanese encephalitis vaccines.
Maternal immunisation protects pregnant women and babies from vaccine-preventable diseases.
Antenatal data collection improves monitoring of immunisation coverage, effectiveness, and safety.

Reporting options:
Antenatal indicator (to be introduced in clinical software during 2025). Ensure your software is updated.
Vaccine type field: If the new antenatal indicator is unavailable, select ‘Antenatal’ under ‘Vaccine type’ in the AIR.
