Accreditation practice pointer: toilets and hand-cleaning facilities

GP5.1E Our practice has access to toilets and hand-cleaning facilities.

RACGP Standards for general practice.

Patients and team members alike must be able to access toilets and hand-cleaning facilities with ease in general practice. There must be signs clearly showing the location of the toilets. Hand-cleaning facilities need to be located next to the toilets to limit the spread of infection. Preferably, the toilets are located inside the practice. Should this not be possible, there must be toilets and washbasins close by.

Ideally, the practice team would be allocated a separate toilet and handwashing facilities to the patients.
