Consultation on Assignment of Medicare Benefits for Simplified Billing Services

The Department of Health and Aged Care is modernising and simplifying the assignment of benefit process by creating solutions that will streamline Medicare billing for bulk billed and simplified billing services.

As part of this initiative, the Department invites you to review and provide feedback on proposed simplified billing regulations and system changes. These changes support the Health Insurance Legislation Amendment (Assignment of Medicare Benefits) Act 2024, which will take effect in January 2026.

Stakeholders are encouraged to submit feedback by 28 March 2025.
