Accreditation practice pointer: members of our clinical team are qualified
GP3.1 A Members of our clinical team are qualified.
RACGP Standards for general practice.
Patients are more likely to receive optimum primary health care when clinicians are suitably qualified. Furthermore, when medical practitioners are trained appropriately and actively participate in continuing professional development (CPD) relevant to their patient cohort, there are fewer medical errors and near misses. It is also mandatory that GPs undertake training in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), in accordance with the recommendations of their professional organisation, or at least every three years. It is the responsibility of the practitioners to maintain their registrations and proof of their credentials.
To meet the Criterion, general practice must:
keep records of current registration of each practitioner
keep records of each practitioner’s CPD
keep records of each practitioner’s CPR training.
General practice might also:
keep training logs that record training that practitioners have completed
keep a calendar that lists opportunities for training and professional development
conduct annual performance reviews that identify learning and development goals
store documents that record training needs and completed training of each member of the practice team.
