Change to MMR and varicella vaccine supply under the NIP from 1 July 2025

The Department of Health, Disability and Ageing is advising general practitioners of an upcoming change to vaccine supply arrangements under the National Immunisation Program (NIP), effective 1 July 2025.

What’s changing?

From 1 July 2025, supply of measles-containing vaccines will transition from two suppliers (GSK and CSL) to a single supplier – GSK.

What this means for your practice

  • You will no longer be able to order CSL’s M-M-R® II (MMR) or Varivax (Varicella).

  • You will be able to order only GSK’s:

    • Priorix (MMR)

    • Priorix-Tetra (MMRV)

    • Varilrix (Varicella)

  • Continue to use your existing stock of M-M-R® II and Varivax until it is used up or expires.

No change to:

  • The current NIP vaccination schedule

  • The vaccine ordering process

To receive updates directly to your inbox, we encourage you to subscribe to the Department’s NIP email list.
