In 2022, the Cancer Institute NSW Reporting for Better Cancer Outcomes (RBCO) insight report found that prostate cancer rates appear high in the Murrumbidgee region when compared to other NSW regions. General Practitioners provide a crucial role in early symptoms investigation and referral to appropriate specialist clinicians for treatment when prostate cancer is suspected or confirmed.
This education event serves to provide the latest information on navigating the complexities of prostate cancer screening and enabling informed decision making for patients. Through a case study presentation, speakers will take attendees through the process of the initial primary care consultation, how to support the physical and mental health of patients by referring to the MLHD/PCFA Specialist Nurse and the ITC program, and how to care for a patient living with end stage prostate cancer.
